I may try to make one of those now that I see what one looks like I am pretty handy at cabinet work may not be exact as some of the trim looks special but I have a good collection of cabinetry planes etc it will look better than the white cardboard box that is there now

I would be grateful to learn of any solid, historical documentation that Edison ever sold A-100s or A-150s with these storage cabinets. (Of course, nothing would have prevented a dealer from doing so.) As I wrote earlier, these storage cabinets were aftermarket items. The image below is from the November 1915 issue of The Talking Machine World.

considering the number of records that container holds, not to mention the thing itself, that seems like a pretty large amount of weight for an A-100's shelf to handle.

I totally agree, Brianu. I once owned an A-100 and that amount of weight sliding back and forth would assuredly cause the shelf to fail sooner or later--unless you didn't open and shut the drawer ever but rather just let the weight stay constantly stable. But then, what would be the point of owning the drawer?

Let the buyer beware.

Well, not all that heavy really. I checked (by weighing 16 and doubling it) and 32 DDs come out at about 14 pounds. I wouldn't be much worried unless the structure was damaged in some way or the joints holding the shelf were loose.

I must agree with the last post. I don't think the weight will cause any structural damage to the machine as it is spread out evenly over the entire shelf. There are many other things I would worry about first like rare machines, cylinders.

my curiosity is that some how attached to the shelf? I can see pulling the draw to get the record in the back and the whole tipping over the draw at least don't you think?

These drawer units screw to the shelf with 4 screws.
