Gene, Edison discs (unless the paper label is black and says says "Needle Cut") are vertically recorded and cannot be played on a machine that uses a steel needle. Doing so will ruin the record. If your Edison discs are about a quarter inch thick, they are vertically recorded and cannot be played on a Victrola.

Your Victrola is designed to play the more typical laterally recorded discs. :)

I don't know Gene. I keep saying I am going to sell some of mine to relieve the clutter, but somehow it never gets done. It would be kind of like selling off a child. But at least in your case it would still be in the family. :)

I'm happy to hear you bought this, Gene!

This morning, I noticed it had been removed from CL. I'm glad I could assist in a very small way.

Enjoy the cleaning and tuning up.

Congratulations on what sounds like a nice machine from the description !

What kind of wood is the cabinet finished in ?

I have a VV-XI in golden oak, from about 1918, that is one of my favorite machines.

Please share some pictures !

That doesn't look like a typical Exhibition reproducer sitting on the turntable. Can we see a photo of just the reproducer? Jerry
