Larry,

I am sorry I failed to add the link. Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid= ... &_from=R40

If you get one of the straps, you may be able to "open" the fasteners on your machine in order to fit the above type handles on your machine. The quality of the handle I got was first rate.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Yes I am still considering that, can you tell me how long it is? I am not sure if the off sets in the ones on my machine would allow the parts though the ends which probably don't have a very wide slot.. It might also be if the length is about the same I might be able to use the ends the new ones come with. Evidently mine was simply made to let the strap lay flat when not in use by leaning to one side.

The handle on the Telefunken was called a "Flatta", and was fitted to various machines including the Columbia 211 portable. The handles in the link above are a perfect fit, having open ends to fit the existing ends into. They do not, however, have the steel strip through the centre. I opened up the replacement handle, inserted the original steel strip, and sewed up the handle again, but if you don't want to go to that trouble, the handle works just as well as it is.

This is good information. But which size is equal to 5" which seems to be what mine is?

I don't know if this is any help, but the 102 strap/handle is 6" from end to end, lying flat. The curved handle on, say, a VV 2-55 portable is 5 ½" measured straight from D-ring to D-ring, but the handle itself is probably more like 6" since it is curved. I believe the Victor handle is a thicker handle as well, and not just a strap.

The 13cm one is the nearest to 5"
