In a pinch you also can use a 45-degree ½-inch copper pipe elbow fitting, one end male, the other female. Perhaps you can get a 90-degree elbow just to see which works best for you. You can also buy tubing at the same hardware store. Actually I use these permanently, swapping them as needed. I may get one or two nickel plated sometime but they suit just perfectly as is.
