My observation... Prices for Credenza/8-30 has come down a bunch in the past few years along with the price of a lot of machines. I bought my 8-30x for $850 in 1999 and that was a great deal at the time for a nice one. The best condition machines were going for $800 to $1200 at the time. There were a lot of foreign buyers who would have been glad to pay that or more to get them.
Since then, one that that has changed is the number of machines now found on Craigslist and eBay. They're not hard to find, so the prices have come down. Obviously, it depends on location as well... shipping is probably out of the question on large machines, the pool of potential buyers is smaller, thus driving the price down.
Those of you buying in the few hundred dollar range for one are getting some really great bargains.
