Give him time; he'll probably disassemble the reproducer and sell it in parts, too.

having been in this position myself more than a few times - with a nice machine that just doesn't seem to sell as a whole, perhaps because of its size and the accompanying transportation issues - I can relate to what a seller like this is doing, especially when it can in the end mean even more money (and faster) selling as parts than waiting out a buyer who will pay enough to make selling the whole thing worthwhile. it can be frustrating, as well... as most if not all of us are aware, people can be incredibly cheap at times... and it's always fascinating how much more valuable a machine can become to a person when that person owns and is selling it rather than trying to buy it (at a bargain). regardless, though, unless the machine or the cabinet is really trashed, I'll pretty much hold onto it indefinitely until it sells as a whole, or until finally just giving in to the tirekickers and selling it really cheap, rather than bust it all up over a few extra dollars... I think the machine and its historical value are just worth more than that, at least to me. but this has ownership vs. stewardship debate has already been rehashed here ad nauseum, I think.
