I too am sorry for jumping in late. As a collector who has purchased from Mark....I can't thank him enough. I'm certain he has helped hundreds of collectors complete and restore their machine's. You won't hear them complain.

As Mark has stated, he is running a business and the overhead in doing so can be high. He is not running a charity.

As a forum member I'm embarrassed to read the attacks directed squarely at Mark. I'm sorry you had to experience this here Mark.

Clearly, some members failed to read or understand our moderators post a few weeks ago.

Mark is as honest as they come--- He provides a tremendous service to collectors by continuously digging to find parts machines that allow us to complete machines that would otherwise be no more than large paper-weights. I have several machines with 'frog' parts on them and I for one am very grateful-- This forum is no place to air personal attacks. I, for one, would support a move to have the moderator suspend forum privileges from those who abuse this wonderful opportunity to share our collecting passions with others.
Thank you, Mark, for all you have done for this hobby!!

I've dealt with Mark buying stuff from him through Ebay and off Ebay as well. Mark is a stand-up guy, and I've always enjoyed doing business with him.. and I'm sure will make many more deals with him in the future.

Mark- If you ever come across those complete set of Edison Amberola Monthly reprints again....Let me know!....

:o)

Thanks,

Tony K.

I second all the positive comments on Mark's croaking frog business. I have been buying parts and whole machines from him since a number of years, at fair prices, honest descriptions and in the rare cases of shipment issues we solved these issues very fast.

Here is what I posted:
Personally I find croakinfrog inordinately expensive. I think you can get a better deal from Ron Sitko or George Volema. Or even Don Gfell. Worse, the "frog" seems to be disassembling machines to sell for parts. Not a good trait for a true hobbyist.

Note "personally" and "seems to be"

I accept the defense that he is indeed buying parts machines. If this is true (and I have no reason to doubt it) then I appreciate being so advised (and relieved) and agree that this is a service we need. I still however retain my personal opinion that he is inordinately expensive.

I have done business with Mark (croakinfrog) as well, both as a buyer and a seller, and I have nothing but positive things to say.

I have been buying parts (And complete machines in good condition, thanks for the Suitcase Home) Mark for about ten years.
He has always been accomodating and helpful, and whilst a screw costing $10 might sound expensive try making one for that!.
I have always been under the impression that he only scraps "basket cases" and his knowledge is vast which he will share with anyone who asks.
Keep up the good work Mark.
Regards,
Alistair. :D

Folks,
Several years ago, I tried to buy a Home Model A motor from Croakinfrog through Ebay. I asked the seller if the motor was minty because I explained to him that it was going to be installed in a very nice Home A. He then sent me a note back telling me to "go back in time if I wanted something mint" and then proceeded to ban me from bidding on any of his future auctions. I am still banned from this seller's auctions.

Steve Andersen - My Ebay ID is Andersun.

I note that an earlier post calling Mark a "machine gutter" has been deleted, which is fine by me, except that now my earlier posting looks like something of an over-reaction to a single posting by John ("Welchfield"). Rather than delete my post (which I've never done), I'll simply add that I appreciate John's reasoned and rational response.

I also appreciate the service offered by George Vollema, Wyatt's, Croakinfrog, APSCO, Ron Sitko, and several others. At times I've paid what I thought were bargain prices, and at other times I've paid what I felt were pretty steep retail prices. It tends to all even out, and I've been saved from investing time and gas in searching out parts. :)

By the way-- Steve-- sorry your posting got "detoured" into other matters-- I sent you a PM-- I'm in the DC area as well and would be more than happy to help you on the Amberola or other machines for that matter. Give a "holler" (Hey, I may live near DC, but I am a Virginian!)
