You don't want to use carbon tet, even if you could find any. I don't think that it's available anymore (carcinogenic). Anyone remember "Energine"? It was a brand of carbon tet sold as a spot remover for fabrics. Better to use mineral spirits (i.e. "paint thinner") or naptha (i.e. "Coleman fuel," liquid in a can) as a degreaser. They aren't totally innocous either---they're flammable, but I don't believe that they're carcinogenic.

If you even make it long enough to develop cancer, that is. Seriously, it's nasty stuff. It can be fatal in relatively small doses via inhalation or even if absorbed through the skin.
