Thank you all for giving me your opinions about the Edison triumph. I will definitely snach it up when I go back to the flea market tomorrow. The flea market is going on all day tomorrow and all day Sunday.

Yep tomorrow morning I'm getting up at 6:30 am and getting my butt up there! I've been driving my self crazy thinking about it I am indeed a "phonoholic" But I'm not sure where I borrow the money. I'm running very low on money since I've been buying parts, buying stuff at auctions, and I just paid Jean-Paul Angard for my 1898 Columbia type AT graphophone trunnion that he rebuilt. So shout out to Jean-Paul! Thank you so much! But I'm not broke, I just don't have $500 right now as we speak. I'm hoping and praying that I will at least sell one machine so I can get my hands on the Triumph. And if I succeed in getting it, I will post the restoration series on the talking machine forum. It will be a very minor restoration because there is almost nothing wrong with it as far as mechanical things go.

If you don't have the full amount, try the deposit approach. At least that will buy you some time to try and gather up the funds. Just an idea.

Wes gives some good advice! A deposit might just get it for you at a later time before someone else gets to it! Good luck, and have fun at the flea market!

I agree on Wes' deposit approach. I've paid for many of my more expensive acquisitions that I would otherwise have had to pass on, that way. It works especially well when you know the person and there's mutual trust. Do be careful if you don't know the guy and for the benefit of both of you, document what you've agreed in writing.

Also as I'm sure you know, condition is everything so consider that in your purchase decision. If in good condition that's a great price.

I've placed deposits on several machines in the past due to the fact that sometimes when machines are offered up for sale, it's not the most opertunistic time but you don't want it to get away so it's sometime the way to go. Infact, I have a machine that I sold recently on hold right now with a deposit because the lady didn't have enough at the time to purchase it so I worked payments out with her and yes I forgot to mention also to make sure to write out some type of receipt or agreement between the two of you. Wes, I fully agree. I've got a deposit down on a beautiful machine purchased from a fellow Forum member right now.
