LOL! There are so many things I could add at this point but I had better not!......

I am also slightly surprised no one spotted what is obvious to me before Starkton nailed it. Yes, the horn looks so completely different by way of a thorough cleaning! Gramophone78, you needn't go to the doctors just yet. There is nothing wrong with you whatsoever. BTW, well done, the horn looks fantastic. I could do with some of my project horns looking like that. What are you doing this weekend?

As the expression goes......"I got blisters on my fingers!!!"..... .

One aspect of these early (large elbow) horns I think is a nice touch and difficult to see in photos.....the inside of the elbows were painted with gold paint. Just that little extra touch to try and replicate a "flower".

Because there are so few of these early (threaded end) flower horns left (in decent condition).....I took a huge gamble. At least it paid off. I waited almost a year to fly over to get it. I wanted to bring it home personally. Although, it was not the only item I returned home with.. .

There is a slightly later version of this horn that uses the "L" shaped slot with a slightly smaller elbow. These horns tend to hold up better. Perhaps a different paint was used or more likely the horns were better prepared before the paint was applied....??.
