Paulo, how difficult is it to find a Fonotipia machine in Italy?

Anyone know of an Italian Manufacturer of external horn machines?

its very difficoult but not only for Fonotipia, for all gramophones... here in italy there aren't a lot of collectors, and the machines are hard to find... and when you find one.. the seller want a too much money... italians are crafty :( .... but if i find a fonotipia i write to you.. ok??

Grazie Paolo.

My friend's uncle is in Calabria and he supposedly restores old machines he buys when he travels to Napoli.
He sent me some pictures and they were all new machines made in India. I'm not sure if he knew the difference,
or if he thought I didn't.

Benvenuto, Paolo!
Italiano anche io, da Bari! Età... 38 anni, quasi 39! For our passion, no matter of age!

I confirm that in Italy it's difficult to find original gramophones, and in neat conditions. Most are crapophones, some are frankenphones. Prices are very strange!

My collection:
- Victor Monarch, by eBay from USA
- Columbia BNW, by an antique shop in Cerignola, near here (!)
- His Master's Voice 130, by a seller in UK
- Columbia BQ, by eBay from UK

A presto,
Michele.

PS. I'm posting some videos from my gramohones at my YouTube video channel "Archeologia Musicale".

Yes Vincenzo.. Here in italy There are a Lot of fake gramophones And when You ask to Seller how much costs they Say "it is Very rare it was built in 1920 its perfect And work listen.. it cost 200 euros"... At that time i Say "man dont joke With me this is a reproduction im a passionate". And Most of the time Seller become angry And give me bad words.. But everytime i have fun to ask interesting questions about fake gramophone to listen The Mountain of bad information Seller give to me" ahahahah

Paolo:

I am fairly new to the Forum myself. I have found people here to be friendly and helpful, as I'm sure you have already discovered. I like both your machines. You write that it is difficult to find machines in Italy. What about disks to play on your machines? Are they difficult to find?

I see that many people on the Forum have an Italian connection. I do too, although it is receding into the past. At one time I used to travel to Italy about five times a year. I would fly into Fiumicino, get my rental car, get on the Annulare, and drive towards L'Aquila, where the earthquake happened a few years ago. Terrible. Near L'Aquila is a mountain called the Gran Sasso, which is a home to the Laboratori Nazionali di Gran Sasso. I worked inside the mountain.

All of this is to the south of you. Many good memories of my trips--especially the porchetta, an Abruzzo specialty.
