The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

I've wondered lately why some man-made material similar to ivory would not work consistently well-something like fiberglass maybe. I've tried sharpening short lengths of string-trimmer line, but it's too soft.
Any ideas?
