Good to hear, Gene. I have one similar, it's sort of an off brand, Son O Phone, but I had to get the spring replaced and a couple other things done to get it working. Really nice piece of furniture though.

Nice machine; much potential there. To my eye, it's mahogany, like my XI. It's definitely post-1917: note "fat tone arm" and (I assume, can't see the face) a no. 2 sound box. It should sound fine. Good luck with your bid!

I have a circa 1918 mahogany VV-XVI, #158871, and really like it a lot. It should be a fine addition to your collection. Good luck!

I was watching the bidding on this. With 8 minutes to go it was sitting at $206. I hit the refresh button and it showed $255 with 16 minutes to go.

Read the "posted closing time extend" below the bid and time remaining info. I'd like to hear some opinions on that.

All the onlne auction houses I've dealt with have what most refer to as a soft close to prevent sniping.
It get's REALLY annoying when people wait for the last second to try to win, only to add another 10 minutes
to the clock. Sometimes the auction will close an hour after it's scheduled time, and I'll start waiting till
the last minute just to spread the annoying around.

I ONLY ever bid on this type of auction if I've gone to the preview to see the machine in person.
I find that a lot of the auctioneers tend to play ignorant and when you get there you find
out how bad it really is.

It's called soft close, which prevents people from bidding 2 seconds before the clock runs out...like on eBay. I actually like that better. I guess somebody else wanted it more than me :/

I personally think you're better off Spun, those doors may have ended up being a handful.

As a Canadian collector, I will say this (based on the pics).....over priced and not worth messing with. I have seen mint ones with full binder sets for under $300.

Agreed, guys. I'm not too disappointed, 250 plus would have been too much.
