I can only second the opinions already posted on here----what a magnificent Edison this is! Such a tremendous stroke of luck finding it as you did, gives us all hope that our personal "holy grail" is still out there somewhere. Seeing this model in Circassian Walnut really makes the mahogany versions (not that even those are common) seem ho-hum by comparison.

I wrote Bill, were both from St. Louis at one point. I wondered if perhaps the one I had back in the early 60s' might be one in the same. .The only photo I have of it is rather poor but I will post it for the sake of interest.

Either that's the same machine or they used pieces from the same tree to veneer both !

Not much to add, but I agree with the earlier comments, gorgeous machine. The stuff is still out there and this shows not to give up looking.
As far as the bedplate I think I would leave it as is. Unless it is interchangeable with another model bed plate than I may make a switch.
Thanks for sharing.
Best Regards, Larry

Larry: I now remember you telling me of this machines many years ago. You were trying to find the picture of it,but could not lay your hands on it. I would be surprised if it is not the same one, how many of these machines missing the grille could there have been in the St. Louis area. It is amazing that this phonograph has resurfaced 50 years later, except now it has the grille

Larry;
The bedplate has the serial number and the model number stamped into it, so I would not switch it out and lose this.I have a picture of the stamping in the bedplate included in all of my pictures. I will probably leave it as is.
