you did the right thing... some machines are worth splurging on and this was one of them. and you can probably rest assured that should you need to sell it, you will very likely, at the very least, be able to easily get your money back out of it.

The repeater worked perfectly in both modes! It may be the source of the once-around thump, though - only it and the mandrel assembly appear to turn at that speed.

That's cool! Nice that the repeater is forward-compatible. I doubt I'll amberolize my own Triumph with repeater, but it's good to know it can be done if a conversion kit comes my way for dirt cheap.

The point then arises about the wisdom and usefulness of a repeater on a 4-minute cylinder machine - at least in my house. I recall it as clearly as if it were yesterday: I brought home my first 4-minute machine, after about 6 months of 2-minute listening, and proudly played a first blue amberol for my lovely wife. When it ended, she said:

"I never knew how long four minutes could be."

I agree with you Peter! Two minute cylinders are also generally better for demonstrating your machine to non-collector visitors too. At least you have a chance of holding their attention. Four minutes is WAY too long for most people!

and was wondering if someone local was going to snap it up. From the picks it did
look like a nice machine, I just didn't have the funds or the room for a new

Glad you got it Edisone. I sent the seller an email the day he posted it but didn't hear back from him. I emailed him again yesterday afternoon and he replied and said he sent me a reply at 9:30 the night before but unfortunately I never got it. Looked like a great deal. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Cripes. We moved everything downstairs to the car, this afternoon. I had no idea how heavy is a Triumph! It was like hugging 2 sacks of kitty litter & trying to go down 15 stairs without seeing or falling on my face. No injuries, though ...

ps - the lid might be wrong, because it won't latch no matter what.
