I'm no chicken, but I drove a Belvedere for quite a few years( 1989-early 2000's )... a '61 Belvedere 4-door, two-tone green.

I LOVED that car ! Miss it every day.

In1962 my grandparents bought a 4-door green and white Belvedere brand new. They drove the hang out of it for years. When they bought a new car, they gave the Belvedere to my father who drove the hang out of it. My brother got it next, using it like a bus for his friends, sometimes putting up to 12 people in it. Then I inherited it. Ol' Belle was looking a little sad by then, but she still had amazing get up and go! My favorite trick was easing in on the reverse button enough to make the back up lights come on but certainly not enough to change the gears; that made tailgaters back off very quickly!

Success! I rolled the Mustang off the motor board sandwich and it's flat. I'm always available to park my Mustang on your phono items. Let me know if I can help. Jerry Blais

Hey Jerry, nice to see that it worked. I've got an 8-7 I may try that trick with. I think my '75 Cadillac might just be heavy enough to de-warp the doors.

What's the serial number on that 8-8? Mine's one of the last produced, so I'm always curious if you'd care to share.

Even though a simple design, I always thought these were handsome machines.

They're great looking and sounding machines, I highly recommend them. I've become a little more partial to the 8-7 since doing some maintenance, it's got a bit more of a punch to the sound over the 8-8. Still, I have no plans to part with mine.

And after realizing I could just zoom in on the photos, this one appears to be Canadian with a "C" prefixed serial number followed by 1xx. The data plate is also a little different.

What do Cadillacs like yours weigh? They must be roughly twice the weight of my Mustang. The ¾ ton GMC that I drive to Union weighs over 7,000 pounds. With the diesel engine It got 21 mpg on a 700 mile trip to pick up the 8-8 and an Amberola 1-A. Jerry
