I believe that this machine was made only as a client model. They are found with "Globe" and less commonly "Eagle" decalcomania, but most often seem to turn up with no ID at all. In most cases I have noted that the Globe branded machine seem to have two-spring motors, the Eagle machines three spring (with a couple of exceptions that may have been later modifications) and un-branded machines seem to generally turn up with the single spring motors.
As I recall, the un-branded machines were sold by a number of concerns, including Siegel, Cooper & Co., Lamson Brothers and Fries and Schuele.
A great many empty cabinets of this style were later used by Columbia for client machines.

Uncle, this is consistent with my experience too. For what it's worth, my Globe has a two-spring motor.

I noticed in one of the pictures the turntable is pressed steel. Is this for the later Talk-O-Phones? All of mine have the cast iron turntable. I never saw a pressed steel turntable on a Talk-O-Phone before.Phono-Phan wrote:I have been asked to post more pictures of this Talk-O-Phone. The finish looks original to me but I am no expert. There is some
slight alligatoring in the finish.

I was about to make the same observation...Phonofreak wrote:I noticed in one of the pictures the turntable is pressed steel. Is this for the later Talk-O-Phones? No. Talk-O-Phone used a cast iron turntable. The shaft has a slight taper on some late motors, and so Heinemann turntables may easily be made to serve. I have a good cast iron turntable, Should one be required

This came from a very long time collector. I have to believe the turntable is original to this machine. If it isn't a Talk-O-Phone then it is a very nice model of whatever it is. I have had other Talk-O-Phone front mount machines and I can't remember whether or not they had a cast turntable.

My Globe also has a stamped turntable. Very heavy gauge metal, with 4 concentric rings. Exactly 10" diameter. I believe it to be original to the machine.
