Opinions about my unusual Edison Home

I remember that date because April 1906 was a pretty big month here in my home town of San Francisco. I'm only slightly shaky on the details.

The main run of Home B Tall style cases seem to shift from Banner transfer to Edison script by about #213000. I'm not sure what date that makes it.

@ Frank: I think we all agree that this is a model B machine which normally would have had a Tall style case. My point was that it might possibly have had the factory conversion. The literature said it was a conversion to model D. But I'm guessing that it was loose nomenclature for adding the 2 & 4 minute gearing. Perhaps it happened another way. A lot can happen in 70 years...

Martin, I think was trying to suggest "factory or dealer conversion", but did not express it very well...


For what it's worth, I have the following Homes:

B, "signature", s/n 262067, "tufts" in the corners, "B" case ( box on top of baseboard, 6 inches high ), 2&4 added, with shift lever. Original angled carriage. Original brass dealer tag: " F. LEE, Compton, Calif."

D, "signature", s/n 369454 D, "loops" in corners + blue striping, "D" case ( no baseboard, "fat moulding, 5-½ inches high), 2 & 4 with flanged drum ( no shift lever). Original angled carriage. No label on underside of lid, but the numbers " 6 " and " 10 " in white chalk.

No need for embarrassed emoticons. I often answer posts when I am barely awake. I sometimes wonder that I can be understood at all. Thanks for the info on your Homes. Both of them have the same type plate with the latest date being May 22, 1906, correct? I'll put them in the list. If you'd like a copy of the latest excel sheet for the Home, PM me and I'll reply with an attachment. (If anybody else wants it, I'll be happy to do the same.)
