I'm currently 16 and I've decided to save up for an Amberola 1A rather than a used car. I should have enough saved by the time I'm 100.

There is one more teenager on this forum who is 16. His real name is Brad Hauck but I don't remember what his username is.
I remember now Brad's username is phononut.

Re: How rare is a Columbia 14 inch aluminum horn?
i started when i was 12 but thats a long time ago (i'm 40 now) i totaly destroyed my first portable windup by doing all the wrong things but because of it i learned the inns and outs of phonograph repairing, what to do and more important what not to do
so guys get yourself an el-cheapo portable with exterior damage and experiment with taking the thing appart and putting it back together again
who knows maybe you are a natural! i certainly wasn't but i got there eventually!
its like mythbusters adam savage says failure is always an option! tino

It's great to see another generation becoming involved in the hobby guys!
It will likely be a lifetime addiction. Old phonographs just have a way of capturing you.

Look me up some day! I have a duplicate 1A - an early Lyre-grill Amberola 1A in absolutely stunning, unmolested original condition that I acquired from the original owners.oldphonographsteve wrote:I'm currently 16 and I've decided to save up for an Amberola 1A rather than a used car. I certainly will! That is, if I ever have enough saved up for it.Hailey wrote:Look me up some day!
