Re: Stripped spindle gear: Is there a fix?

Like mentioned here, the worm gear eventually begins to cut away over time on the spindle gear. These gears were fiber and were supposedly quiet running when new. We are finding most of these Heinemann motors have these bad fiber gears. I have a couple dozen of these Heineman motors and all except one has this wear to the spindle gear. I might add, these fiber gears were not supposed to be oiled or greased, as it can soften and damage the gear.
My brother was working on a neoprene replacement for these but had alot of things going on between jobs. I will be attempting to duplicate one of these in the near future, I am thinking of using a neoprene or hard plastic resin and moulding some. that could be added on with either a screw or locktite.
