Vibration can usually be traced to the governor weights being out of balance. Did you check that?

Well, wouldn't missing a governor weight be considered to be out of balance?

Sounds like that is easily resolved.


Personally I haven't run across a Victrola that "threw" a governor weight, so that possibility did not occur to me...

Today, I successfully rebuilt my dash pots, thanks to the great videos on Youtube that the Credenza man did! He really shows you how to do it right! The hardest part was getting the spring clips back in. Now the dash pots feel very firm. I can't wait to install them back into the Credenza to see how they work. Also there is an adjustable knob in the bottom of the dash pot where you can adjust the speed of the descent!

Seconded- if you can't get to the holes then let some oil run down the rods and it will find its way into the cylinder. It only takes a little.

Ditto to all the above. It is usually unnecessary to take them apart.
