Very nice! I'm a sucker for Oak.
The Condon Autostop does work, but I'd suggest replacing the rubber on the bottom first, it needs to be able to "grab".

Originally, the Condon Autostop had three soft rubber pads beneath the weight. Those pads have by now turned to rock, but the original rubber would have applied much more friction to the record once it was engaged.
