Or you could put a really long rubber connector on it.

If I don't miss my guess that is a piece of plain steel rod with a hole drilled in the end for a chain. It shouldn't be hard to fabricate a new and shorter one.

Valecnik is right. It is as short, as it can go. The crane is desgined for a Morning Glory Horn. My horn does require a floor crane. However, I am not too concerened. I just use my smaller 14" horn instead.

To shorten a crane one needs only to make a small bushing with a tumb
screw and eye attached to it like this:
I would like to show a small sketch here but don't know how to
attach ???

I have a soft spot for the Home Model B, that was my first cylinder phonograph, back in 1967. I still have it. I paid $35 for it at an antique shop, and another $6 for a Tea Tray Co. morninglory horn. The practically mint 2M wax records cost me 50 cents each. Those were the days!
