Yes I'M so sorry I worded it wrong

For what it is worth, I recently rebuilt a Columbia reproducer. Two loud tone needles were placed in two holes of the retaining ring. Then, I took a block of wood and pushed the two needles into it using the reproducer. I then drove the needles further into the wood block to firm up their placement. That gave me a "wrench" to use to remove the retaining ring. As previously stated, the gaskets were still somewhat pliable. I kept the inner gasket as it was quite pliable, and replaced the outer one with gasket material (tube-same as would be used on a Victor Exhibition). I did NOT remove the needle bar, just loosened it a little and then adjusted the tension to remove any distortion once the gasket replacement was finished. Lastly, I sealed the needle bar connection points with wax. When I was done, it looked and sounded great.

Made a tool from two strips of wood and 2 nails which worked perfectly. Since I was dealing with pot metal spaced the nails to apply equal pressure, filed the tips off the nails to prevent messing up the holes, a little penetrating oil and off it came.

I knew I should have patented this tool. Cheers
