I've seen one driftwood oak machine in my time collecting, a straight door XVI, and it looked just like driftwood... a light, white and gray colored stain.
In LFD stain sample section, Driftwood looks almost blackish. I have never had the pleasure of seeing either in person. What a treat... ;).

Years ago I tried to help a pal sell a similar machine, but nobody was interested. But here, as another reference point to the darker finishes, is a link to the pix:

That's a beautiful, and unusual, finish. You're fortunate to own one! (I find it interesting that the storage drawer finish is not a match to the rest of the cabinet. Wonder if that's "as built," or was the drawer a replacement/homemade/refinished?)

Hi Henry,
As mentioned in the original post, it is a golden oak drawer that I will have to refinish to flemish. Not original to this machine but an original Victor drawer. John

Nice find! I have the same machine in my collection. I purchased it years ago from Craigslist in Colorado. I have experimented with many ideas of stains trying to match the worn areas, but I've grown to like the machine just as it is. It shows the character nicely. You will enjoy having it in your collection. Everyone that sees it will be drawn to it because it is so unusual.

Regards, Wes
