Re: Oak Pooley VTLA...half of it
Well.... Bummer--- I helped Gene unload his new Pooley cabinet, with great anticipation that he would be able to transfer the mechanism from his "dwarf" Flat-top and have a great machine-- Alas-- It was not meant to be. I quickly discovered that the three-spring Type M motor, usually found in the Vic VI was incorrect for the case Gene purchased at Stanton's. The crank hole in the case is a full 4" forward of the location of the winding shaft on that motor (about 2" in front of where the spindle would be) That case is a very early Pooley that utilized the Brass Gear, "spur" motor with the round metal mounting plate. (Same motor that is in my very early "Vic 6" and is used in the "D") Needless to say Gene was disappointed-- but that's what makes this hobby fun. The hunt is now on for the correct brass motor.
A BIG thank-you to John Duffy for pictures of the brass, spur motor and motor-board from his early VTLA. The pics helped confirm the diagnosis that Gene's search has taken a different direction!

I could use the parts for a restoration. Please let Gene know and PM for details.outune wrote:Just an FYI-- Gene finally found a full flat-top cabinet. He went all the way to Stanton's to secure it.
He has the complete mechanism in his 'dwarf' Pooley. I'm going over to help him unload his new cabinet in the morning and begin the transition of the mechanism.. So-- soon he will have a complete and beautiful Flat-top. If anyone is in need of any top half cabinet parts, or some of the hardware parts, let me know and I'll pass the info on to Gene.
