Because it was a fad in the forties: They cut the legs off highboy early thirties radios to make a " chairside set". My uncle sliced the legs off the family radio of his youth ...a lovely Victor Micro Synchronous set... in order to do just that. As we speak, in the kitchen of one my clients, sits a Canadian Alvara...you know, one of the " only in Canada" Orthophonics ( they are such handsome machines) with...yes....it's legs cut off. :cry:
I'm thinking of notifying Amnesty International. :lol:

What a very handsome machine! Wouldn't it be great to gut it and turn it into a liquor cabinet, or mini murphy bed? :?
