Remove the reproducer, and place in a padded box. Wrap the tone arm & goose-neck in bubble-wrap or old tea-towel so that it doesn't flop around and damage the underside of the lid.

Other advise above is good, I've moved a number of these and have not removed the motor / motorboard.

One of Gene's was the last one I handled, and I was surprised to see him arrive in the Subaru Impreza !

Get a pack of moving blankets from Harbor Freight, you can't have too many.

Pad ANY part of the machine that MIGHT contact the car, if the machine shifts during transit.

The cardboard is a good suggestion.

You may also want to take care with the lid. If the veneer on the lid is loose you can rip it off when pulling the machine back out of the car.

what I did when Jerry Donnell gave me my Credenza and C-250 was take the motor out of the cabinet.That made it easier to move.Both of them were transported in my sister Grace's Ford truck.I went with her,as did our mom.That was in 2002.Both machines could stand upright.edisonplayer

GAVE you?!?! Man I need some new friends;). Thanks for advice/replies! Still finalizing deal but WHEN I get it pics will follow! Had some great help from a forum member who I now gladly owe some favors - good place to be! And I'll be trying to bring some helpers.....back has been acting up afterall....heheh;)

Many years ago, two friends and I moved a Victor 10-50 to my house. This included wrestling the thing down stairs from the second story of the seller's home, during which the thing actually got away from us briefly, threatening to crush the two downhill guys.

We couldn't ask the seller why on this lovely green earth he had moved the damn thing upstairs in the first place, because he was dead.

We got it down, onto the truck, and to my house. One of the two guys split his pants, good strong Levi's jeans, getting it inside.

Neither of them is around anymore to help move it again, taking extreme avoidance measures such as moving out of state and/or dying, so here it stays.

At least it's on the first floor, only 4 steps up.
