The crank probably just wasn't going in straight. Can't imagine it is a big problem. The dashpot lid closers usually can be fixed by adding a little oil down the tube to soften the leathers inside and they also have an adjustment on the bottom. Those are relatively minor problems.

Those cranks are sometimes hard to get to screw in to the motor, I've had trouble myself. Keep trying and you will eventually have success.

A little neatsfoot oil in the dash pots may fix them (lit supports). It fixed mine and from what I have read usually fixes most of them.

Any info on the reproducer?

The back comes off pretty easily if you want to see up close what the crank is doing.

Opening the back to have a look is the best idea. I've owned / moved several of these Credenzas. You should loosen the motor board screws to re-align the motor board with the crank. The motor board has quite a bit of movement when the screws are loose. Once you get the crank to thread into the motor, re-tighten the screws.

Stopped by this antique shop again today and lo and behold the credenza is still in the same spot where I first encountered it 3 months ago. The crank is still not screwed in and the price initially $695 is now $325..... It does not appear to be going anywhere soon.. Have a good weekend..

Now its a good price considering its a 2 door, and maybe with the brass reproducer.

Well Sir, I am guessing that everyone is in suspense like myself-----when are you adopting it? Or will it be snagged by someone to turn into a bar or upgraded to a sound system? Walk, don't run-----unless you have your sneakers on and lets see the pictures of the new arrival.

you said it had two springs. The Credenza should have four springs, but I think they are housed in two spring barrels.
