tomb wrote:George I found a rear mount crane that screws onto the back of the case in two different spots one high and one low with two screws on each mount. I do not know the name of the crane. I also have a 18 inch brass and black horn. I have to break the horn out. Does that seem right for the machine??? If so I will mount it and send some pics next week Tom.
I must withhold further advice until the pictures are posted. I can't offer intelligent direction without knowing what the crane and horn are. Please post pictures of these components before doing anything further. The printed word has its limitations. :)

If the case does not have any original screw holes for such a crane, I would advise against drilling new ones.

Your best option for a larger horn is to use a floor crane.

Bill you were right and it had holes in the back for brackets to mount a crane. I was wondering about them and they matched the brackets. The holes were enlarged and had to be filled in to work but the crane is mounted see pictures of the finished Edison. I will display it in my living room .... also thanks George for the info ....Tom

Lovely, and very historic. Nice machine (and horn!).

MUCH better! :)

Your crane is a Hawthorne & Sheble No.4, and it's great that the holes were already there for the brackets. This model crane is typically found on suitcase Homes and occasionally on suitcase Standards. It's the perfect choice for your machine.

The horn is an appropriate Tea Tray Company model of consistent age with the machine and crane.

A very nice combination - congratulations. :)

Great job on the lid. The repair is perfect. I'm glad your machine already has holes drilled out. The crane and horn, really make the machine stand out. Enjoy your machine.
