Walt & John:

EXACTLY!

I guess should learn some carpentry terms; I thought a "rabbit" joint was locker room terminology...

Thanks for the much-needed clarification!

Hello again Gents,

Thank you for all your earlier help. This cabinet restoration is almost done. All I have to do now is make some basic adjustments to the brackets, finish redoing the top, and finish the shelves. Hence, I have one last question. Can anyone give me the dimensions and answer the questions that I have mentioned in the attached picture here? That information would be very much appreciated, and I'll have this cabnet done in no time soon!

Hi Garret,

I am just finishing the restoration of the more common version of this cabinet and all of the pegs are on 2.5" centers. You should be able to determine all the locations based upon the center to center distance and the general pattern.

Garret,

The wooden brackets appear to be glued in place. No nails or screws are evident.

Distances:

Left edge to peg: ½"
Front edge to peg: ½"
Right inner surface to peg: ½"
Horizontal distance between pegs: roughly ⅞"
Diagonal distance between pegs: varies between ¾", ⅞", and 1". Try for ⅞"

Brad is correct in pointing out that the pegs are distanced on 2.5" centers. Be aware that not all the pegs may be perfectly upright, so there are some slight variations in distances between pegs. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to make it exact, as ¼" variations definitely occur.

Good luck!

Update time!

This cabinet is almost done. When it is complete, I will submit some pictures for you all to see. At this point, the only thing I need to do is to finish sanding out the top and put the pegs in the shelves. So, one last question for you all. Does anyone have good pictures illustrating the numbered peg layout for each shelf on these early Herzog cabinets? Pictures and additional information would be immensely appreciated!

Garret,

I don't have pictures of the early version, however, between the pictures JP posted, and the pictures in my thread: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... lit=barrel you should be able to infer the order.

I based my "layout order" from viewing several cabinets at the Wayne show and a few pictures online. Looking at the pictures of the older version in this thread, the order of the pegs on the door is different. What that tells me is that either the old and newer styles employed a different order for the door shelves, or one group of us is wrong

In the end, it probably doesn't matter all that much

Still anxious for pictures!

I agree with Brad that previous postings (who's "JP"? :) ) seem to suggest the peg numbering pattern in the early Herzog "710,", but here are two more photos which will hopefully make it perfectly clear.

George, Thank you very much for posting the additional pictures. The pegs have been stamped, and the shelves finished. I am now gluing pegs on shelves and doing my best to finish the top. When it is all done, in a couple weeks or so, I will post some pictures!
