I have had a Bruce Stylus in my edisonic Reproducer now for several years. It shows no sign of wearing the records. Using various diaphragms of my design over time in it I have found that when observing a record carefully the detail and somewhat the depth of sound is improved with the heavier weight. I almost always get a fairly obvious boost to the volume when switching from the standard to the edisonic. That said my living room of which most of the Videos under AcousticEdsion on you tube are made, is simply too vibrant and small to make a good use of what are already pretty loud records. Years back by now Steven named my Diaphragm the "Listeners Diaphragm". Mostly because it was at a reasonable sound level and the detail was good. The edisonic reproducer is valuable when you have a larger area or one perhaps that deadens the sound of a standard and needs a boost.

I appreciate hearing the comments from Winsleydale, having happy listeners is what its all about .

Looks like I had better get my Edisonic rebuilt, too...

Winsleydale, By changing only the gaskets in the standard DD reproducer and changing the Edisonic to the new diaphragm and installing the Bruce Stylus you have introduced too many variables to be able to make a valid comparison. The Edisonic was designed with, in addition to the heavier weight, a modified diaphragm and a spring from the stylus bar to the weight (it hooks onto a ring at the top of the stylus end of the bar). I have a number of standard reproducers, all rebuilt with new gaskets and some of them have had the diaphragm centers resealed with shellac where necessary. My Edisonic has cork gaskets and has not been rebuilt. It sounds quite good, especially on electric DDs and will track several DDs which don't do well with a standard reproducer. The Edisonic is also significantly louder than my standard reproducers. BTW: my DD machine is a C19.
