Bruce, I am sorry to disagree but the cylinder is dubbed from Edison Diamond Disc 51542-R. You can tell easily by the time which is exactly 4 minutes. So, after Mr. Edison refused to have it released on cylinder it would only take some 83 years until this major decision override was made. :mrgreen:

Regarding the new diamond discs, I saw them this October too, along with a copy of a 7" Berliner. I could not tell the difference to the original as long as they were laying on the table. They're still prototypes and to my knowledge no real progress was made since the first appearance at the April show.

I'm sure you are right. For some reason I recall that there was a reference to velvetone on the cylinder box. Now I check and it's not there??? I have no idea where I got that reference... :monkey:

Dang, been thinking it would be cheaper to make new DDs than new cylinders and had hope someone would be able to churn out new DDs at $15-20 a copy. Alas, I need to stop being an idealist, haha.

I vaguely remember that someone would mention this in a thread at the old board and I would also disagree with it. Who knows... :?:
