HAD A GREAT TIME AS ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!! I brought home a good amount of new projects, surprises, and made a few new friends. For me, it is a time to share our passion for phonographs and mechanical music, share information, and even talk about life outside the hobby. Bravo to Stanton and his crew for making it another success. I'll be there in the Spring!

It was nice to see you Wyatt, as well as everyone else I had a chance to chat with between bids. Looking forward to the Spring auction as well!

Funny you should mention paternity...

Last week I was at the grocery store when I was approached by a woman who looked vaguely familiar.
She said "I think you're the father of one of my kids".
I said "Oh wait, are you that dancer from Montreal? with the glass table, St. Bernard, and that midget?"
She said "No, I'm your daughter's teacher"

How embarrassing.
And, THAT'S why I missed you...

I am too far away to attend, but would love to own an Edison Concert. The above is what, ultimately, caused me not to bid. Fear of this unknown.

Next time, ask Steve Stanton in advance about the particular machine you're interested in. He'll give you his honest opinion of the machine. If he doesn't know the correct answer, he'll usually find someone local who does. You can also ask here to have us review the photos of it.

Personally I think you're missing a great learning opportunity as a collector if you do not attend. What better place to look at several hundred machines ranging from poor to excellent condition, common to rare.
Any questions, concerns or information on any given machine is easily had by just asking one or more of the dozens of friendly knowledgeable collectors and dealers who attend.
What better way to learn repro from original and average from excellent while looking at a machine side by side with a more knowledgeable person. I think that's how most of us have leaned over the years.
I remember seeing two Concerts there, one in poor condition and one excellent. The one in excellent condition sold for $1300 if I remember correctly, a great buy.

I stayed at the Motel 6 in Benton Harbor and then in Lansing for three days. As I was driving back to Chicago, I noticed that my legs were itching. When I got to my O'Hare Airport motel, I examined my lower legs and discovered that I had been attacked by bed bugs. I filed a complaint, but, of course, they said there were no bed bugs after they said they sent an inspector to my room. I'll have to be more careful next time!

Are you sure the Concert in excellent condition went for only $1300? I would have paid for that in a heartbeat!

Any way to find out for sure what this brought?

Michigan is just too far away for me to go.

They will eventually post a list of realized prices for every lot on the website, as soon as everything is settled and compiled into a document.
