My big find of the year is this Brunswick Cortez...

Harvey, it's a Home Model B that was my wife Sharon's great grandparents, it was left to me by their daughter -- Sharon's grandmother -- in 1986. The cabinet was constructed from parts made out of a bureau by Sharon's grandfather at some point. It used to set atop the remaining bureau (in which the 100+ cylinders accompanying the Home, were stored) in their modest basement rec-room. The horn, original instructions, an oil can, and recorder (no cutter) were also with it. It still retained what I believe to be the original rubber horn-to-reproducer tube, hard, cracked at the bend, and mended with what looks to have been medical adhesive tape.

I used to bring it upstairs into the kitchen at Grandma's house to oil, and for her to listen to it occasionally on Sunday's for several years, before her passing.

To say we're blessed to own it, would be an understatement.

It was once suggested that I restore it to original, but I could never bring myself to do that and destroy it's history.

Hello all
I am new to this hobby. It just started for me with the purchase of this Amberola 50 and then the record cabinet. The Amberola is all original, it had been in the same family since new. I am hooked now and I have picked up a couple of Amberola 30 basket cases that I am going to go through and get running. One was in a chicken coop for decades and once wound up, everything worked!

I would have to say that my best find for 2016 is the gold plated Johnson C. All of the parts except the reproducer that are normally nickel plated are gold plated. I have been informed that there is another one out there in a collection. I was also told that the dealer on the tag would custom order whatever the customer wanted.

Fran, I would love to see more pictures of that cylinder machine. If it is not in the featured phonograph, I think it should. I agree with you, it should be left alone. It is a unique piece of family history. Much different than the typical cookie cutter variety.

My last find is always my best find because I enjoy them all.

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to acquire this wonderful Edison Ideal...in outstanding original condition. Definitely My top find of 2016!!

My find for 2016 would be a beautiful Triumph Model-E. It seems to be the almost complete unit as purchased in 1911. It consists of the machine, a Triumph Model-E, Music Master horn, original crane, Model-O reproducer (iron & brass), Model-C reproducer with adapter ring, 2-Min Recorder in original box with the very early style adapter ring, rubber horn connector, packing slip, manual, cygnet horn adjusting form. The only items that were not included were the oil can, bottle of oil, and the brush. You just don't see complete units like this with the original paperwork very often.
