Excellent result! I have made my own paper mache horn gramophone, which somebody called a Crapophone, but now it is gone, so I am making another one which has a 29"diameter horn. I am using Winco's paper shopping bags to make the horn. The cabinet is going to be custom made by my friend cabinet maker using a blue print of EMGinn Expert table-top cabinet. When I finished it, I will put up on youtube.

Ah, OK... I recognize that name. You've been around the block once or twice with this stuff. Good to see you here!

Bout time.

Hello Loudbass,
I have a question about the finishing paper you used for the horn.It looks really nice. Since I have been making my own hand-made paper mache horn, I would like to know what kind of paper you glued on the horn. It seems very thin. I really appreciate your information. Thank you.

When I bought it the gramophone had been liberally coated with white paint. The horn had a hole and was also painted as can be seen in the photo below.
My first task was to repaper the horn. I repaired the damage with paper maché and refinished it using découpage paper.
The gramophone was disassembled and whilst I worked on the bright work a local furniture restorer, Dominic Taylor, stripped and refinished the cabinet.
The motor (Garrard number 10) was in good order and was oiled and refitted.
All is now reassembled and the EMG plays wonderfully!
HI,
I am building my own handmade gramophone with a 29" diameter paper mache horn. I am so impressed with the decoupage paper. Would you please let me know where I can get the similar one, thank you.

Hi, I am not sure where you are based, but I can certainly give you the details of the paper I used. I used decoupage paper number 475 from
www.thedecopatchplace.co.uk for the finish. The paper is very thin and I applied it in small strips. Best of luck with your projects!

Loudbass,
Thank you so much. I looked at the website, but No. 470 was out of stock, so I asked them get more. Thanks again.

I found the 475 Decoupage Paper on ebay.

I ordered 10 sheets. I hope it is enough to cover the horn. It is very popular paper, 51 sheets have been sold. I am wondering somebody fixing the look of EMG or EMGinn's horn.
