Fabulous. The machine plays like a million bucks - and that record is a challenge for most any sound box!

Congratulation on getting this, it most certainly is a one of a kind. Machines like this put some excitement into a well rounded collection that we normally see.
I think its great that it has its own matching stand also. Looks like a keeper to me.

I visited Dan yesterday, and this "Opera" sounds amazing in person too, perhaps even better. Jerry Blais and I made him buy it! Congrats to Dan.

Dan,
We are so glad you got this machine, it is a work of art.
We know you love Caruso as much as we do and that is a great record to
use for demonstration. Bravo to Jerry and Stan for making you buy it.
Congratulations to you and again, BRAVO!!!!
All the best,
David & Lerria

This is truly a spectacular piece and perfect for your opera based collection. A machine like this adds so much interest to your collection. The ONLY thing I question about your description is the comment about this piece being "home made." The superior quality of construction points towards it being a product of a professional craftsman. I would lean towards thinking that it was commissioned by a wealthy opera lover. I've seen a music box that was hidden inside a exquisite Swiss chalet. Could a machine like this be a product of a similar cottage industry?

Forum member CarlosV suggested it may have been made in the Black Forest in Germany. Could be. There is nothing on the machine that has given me a clue yet as to its origin. I'm hoping someone will eventually come forward with more info.

What are you all smoking ? It has no age the paper dates its manufacture to 1988 , none of the parts are of the same age , you could call it an elegant crapophone , THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES ON ! Should be transferred here
