The re-cycle/re-purpose movement was started to keep trash out of the landfills... apparently, no one wants light fixtures made from actual trash like soda cans or milk containers, so they target phonograph horns. Also, you never see someone make a wine cabinet out of an old metal filing cabinet which would at least be a use for all of the obsolete office equipment that ends up discarded in landfills... Nope, pick something like a phonograph that makes absolutely no sense to ruin, considering that there are collectors willing to salvage and restore them...

Indeed he would! Making phonographs of any brand into liquor cabinets was a particularly heinous sin in his eyes. Of course, the whole liquor thing was another issue with him. I once made the mistake of stopping by with a friend with a few brewskis in hand, planning to relax in his parlor with the Duo Art playing some light foxtrots in the background, listening to records and generally just enjoying his company. Jerry was not amused. And he let us know that, but he allowed it just that once. I respected his wishes and never took a drink of anything stronger than water in his house ever again. That I was maybe 22 or 23 at the time wasn't much by way of an excuse, either.
