Thank you for sharing the music. What is the approximate value of this type of record?

Needle type Edisons sell for a wide range of prices and many factors come into play for them, but they're certainly all desireable in nice condition. I don't speculate "value" for records in general because a disc like this could sell for $25 in one auction and $300 in another (which recently happened). I paid $100 for my copy, which is in E/E- condition and came with a nice crisp original sleeve. It was worth it to me as they are two of my favorite tunes by an oustanding band with one of my favorite vocalists, Vaughn DeLeath.

I really like this version of "Am I Blue" from the 1980's Cotton Club movie.

In celebration of Sean's first rate transfers, here's a page of reviews for the " new " lateral Edison's from the old Amberola Graphic. You'll see that the New Yorker review was sent by a certain Toronto collector who you folks may know. ;) The ironic thing is I went to scan my original New Yorker but couldn't find it so I had to scan the page from the Graphic. Note that The New Yorker reviewer is rather bemused that Edison is still supplying cylinders in 1929. But he did remark on the " clarity and volume" of the Edison laterals. As this piece points out The Etude did their first reviews after Edison had ceased production.

I have the "Am I Blue" coupled with "Birmingham Bertha" recordings on a Diamond Disc, which is extremely quiet background, and of course very full recording.
