I also thought that it was for a pin to be used on a front mount tone arm. But, it is in the wrong position. A pin would need to be in about the 1 o'clock position and this is at about a 3 o'clock position. Plus, the heads of the screws would keep from being able to insert the throat in too far. The mystery goes on.

Thanks for the link to the previous posting on this seldom seen Victor Junior reproducer.
I have it all rebuilt and it sounds great!
