"Turn on the Heat" That is SO funny to me. I used to work with a gal who was born in 1921 and since Betty was the youngest in her family she knew all kinds of 20's dance music. They would play that song on the radio once in awhile during a Big Band radio program that was on a local radio station back in the late 70's. Betty was rather good sized and she would sing along with that song and shake her hind end so the rest of her went every which way. Holy cow that was funny and probably horrifying at the same time.... She was definitely a show stopper on that one (And REALLY good looking when she was young). She really liked Ruth Etting as well and could also dance the Charleston quite well. I thought she was really old at the time and now I find I'm about that same age. Funny how that goes. Haha!

I think the Fred Hall/ Arthur Fields collaborations on OKeh and Edison (as Arthur Fields and his Assassinators) are some of the most under- appreciated recordings of the Jazz Age.

Jimmie Lunceford's 1934 scorcher White Heat comes to mind. Ted Lewis did a cover of this, but it was not as hot as Jimmie's version.
