The crank, or at least part of it, can be seen in both pictures on the far side of the "case".

My wife also speculated that the skin might be real  . The horns (not the one at the rear!) certainly look real.

I think the animal part was assembled from a sheep's or goat's head that was mounted for hanging on the wall. The "body" is just covered with another piece of sheep skin, as it has a different color etc. Probably covering parts of an orthophonic portable botched onto a butchered cylinder horn. Everything mounted on some kind of small bench or similar. My wife is an artist as well, but at least she leaves my phonographs alone.

The "artist" must have been on an acid trip.

Well, as long as we're all chiming in with ba-a-a-a-a-d humor, I'll add my last titter: Gives a whole new meaning to bighorn sheep.

Looks as if they were ripping off Robert Rauschenberg (see his "Monogram")...

Sooo...is this considered an 'internal' horn?
The head could very well be that of a Cashmere goat, the horns(on the head),ears and curly coat support that.
We cannot, however, support this form of 'art' as we have a love for goats as well as phonographs!
