I might argue that that depends on what you use. If you use something subtle that serves as a backdrop for the wood and does not draw attention to itself it can help focus on the wood grain. Here is an A150 grille with a moss green silk chiffon. (Sorry for the shine from a nearby window.) If there were no cloth the inside mechanicals would be fighting the wood for attention.

If that's an A150 it has the wrong grille. It looks like an A100.
