Thanks Gene, I knew it was posted here somewhere! While victor-victrola.com may have recorded serial numbers of machines like these, I'm sure they are just regular Victor serial numbers intermixed with regular 10-50s that were produced without the Badger modifications. Regardless, the glass and coin op mods are cool, I saw the one Gene has in person before he bought it from it's previous owner.

PS
Ken,
The finish on your cabinet looks incredible.
Is it original?
If so, without being too nosey, where did you find such a preserved example????

My understanding is that there were several distributors who offered coin-operated 10-50s with a window in the left door. Each distributor had their own window design, which is why you see variations today in both the coin mechanisms and the window installations.
I had read in a contemporary magazine that Victor began offering 10-50s with windows from the factory late in the production of the model and also sold doors with windows so that distributors could update their or their customer's instruments.

Yes, the finish is original as are the albums. I just need to get the potmetal parts replaced. I am working on that. I will also need some good pictures and advice on the mechanism. It was all taken apart and in a box when I got it. A pretty interesting puzzle to say the least. I just hope that all the parts are there.

I am posting these scans from my original 10-50 booklet.
I hope they are of help to anyone who could benefit from the information they contain.
Best to all,
Gene

Ken,
The albums you have are original Victor but not original to the 10-50.
All the Victor automatic machines using the first style changer used record boxes, the tops are open and there is a large slot cut in the sides. The slot was so you could load a complete stack of records using the record loader on to the record hanger in the machine.
There are couple variations of the boxes, usually you find the 10-50 & 10-51 with plain brown boxes with no decoration. The 9-55 and 10-70 with maroon boxes with gold embellishments.

Gene,
Thanks for the posts of the manual. It will be a big help.

These albums are cut out on the sides. I will post some pictures tomorrow. Forgive me for calling them albums as they are more of a box.

Here are the pictures of the record boxes. I hope these are the correct ones. I noticed that ID tag says Automatic Victrola rather then the model number. The serial number is C515.

They are correct. The "C" prefix on your serial number makes it a Canadian version. That's cool!

Sean/Ken,
Do you know if all of the Canadian machines were marked Automatic Victrola, as opposed to 10-50?
