So to be useable it had to have an amp.??? It does not a sound box. Tom B

It probably had to be connected to a radio: that was often a less expensive option than buying a whole new radio-phonograph, especially during the Depression.

Yes,a radio or amp of some kind is required. The one I worked on runs through a radio

Thank you all who responded to my message. I apologize for my slow response, but I thought I requested to be notified of responses, but I probably did that wrong.

Really awesome information. I wasn't aware of the origin of the company and the ads are wonderful. Does anyone have any idea what something like this would be worth and/or where my friend could sell it if he so chooses? He is planning to do some restoration on it and check out the wiring to see if it works. He hasn't plugged it in yet because he doesn't want to cause any harm.

Yes, there are wires to attach a speaker, probably a radio. There is no speaker in it.
