Just a little cleaning and polishing, before and after...

Apparently, this was stored in the attic for over 50 years.

Question: On the lid support rod where the bolt attaches to the bracket in the lid. Is the nut supposed to be on the inside or outside?.

Mine was missing and I found a replacement. Just want it to be correct.

So the ID plate was placed apparently at random either on the left back board or the left deck board. Could this be a difference between a Pooley VTLA cabinet and a Victor made VTLA cabinet? Or some other manufacturing anomaly?

The data plates were affixed at Victor's facility in Camden, so cabinet manufacturer wouldn't be a factor.

On my VTLA, serial # 3142, the model is left blank on tne data plate. The plate is on the left deckboard. 'Tis a mystery for sure.

Interesting that the serial number of the 2 known (so far) blank model space ID plates were made within days of each other, yours with SN 3142 and mine with SN 3185. Anybody else have a VTLA with a serial number close to these??

Here is something else I have never seen before. This is a very worn steel ball bearing that the spindle sits on. It has apparently been there a long time without lubrication. Unless it was a specially made item? Whatever the case, I replaced it.

Got the springs out. They were intact but not very springy. Now just awaiting arrival of the new springs. The pin that secures the winding gear to the winding shaft was broken, very common for these motors. I cut a new one from a 3/32" steel rod.
