That machine is just barely electric. It uses an electric turntable motor, thats all. They are very simple motors. Everything else is acoustical.

If you play records on your machines rather than just collect and display them, the electric motor is the only way to go. The Victor induction disc motor is especially quiet and reliable, and electric motors have no springs to break.

Some of us think cranking is romantic or evocative, but my guess is that the only reason we don't see more electric motor phonos from that era today was that folks didn't opt for them out of cost considerations.

I hate cranking and have an electric motor or a Jones Motrola (look it up if unfamiliar) on each of the machines I listen to most.

This particular machine, for only $40? It should already be at your house.

I personally enjoy the look of my machines as well as using them. Yes it will be in my home this Sunday. I do not own a truck so had to borrow my in-laws or it would have been here last week. Thanks.
