A matter of self-preservation. I'm glad everything worked out in the end, but when you're dealing with a system that requires blind trust in someone you never met (sending money or parts out to a total stranger), reputation goes a long way. Open and frequent communication goes a long way. I don't know the details, nor do I care to, but I will go so far as to say that word speads in this small community, and we need to be mindful of our reputations when dealing with others. Otherwise, we might find people not being willing to deal with us. I have heard conflicting stories about some people that have appeared on the various generations of these boards. You never knew the real story, and their are a few who I knew their seller IDs on ebay. To this day, I think twice about dealing with them. Some of them I roll the dice, others I just avoid.

That's just the reality of it. Blackballing or not.

We spoke on the phone last night, and they gave me the reason for the absence. Although it is a substantial reason and situation, I hope it all works out for him and the family. The upsetting part to me was the lack of contact. It would have only taken a short email stating being in the middle of a major meltdown. After all, we did spend a lot of time on the phone previously and felt very comfortable working together. Sometimes life throws us all curve balls, and it has to be dealt with 'right now', everything else gets pushed to the side. Unfortunately, the not knowing where I stood caused a lot of grief on my end. For now, things have settled down, and we move forward.
