I applaud you for using the original finish on your phonograph. Nothing looks as good. A fine looking machine.

That's a really nice job! I was a little dubious about the veneer repair to the top in the unfinished photo, but you matched it in very nicely. Keep up the good work!

Nice job. Looks great. The work is almost over. I am finishing up on my C 200 and probably will get on refinishing at the end of Feb I just got the volume control installed and all the dust cleaned out. Mine is mahogany and I am going to try a different route. The finish is rough and I think I can Gojo it then use furniture restorer on it If I need help I will send you a smoke signal. Tom

I would always side on keeping an original finish. This one was very powdery/flaky when I tried cleaning it, and there was too much raw wood, but of course I much prefer an original finish. I'm sure there are better ways to finish, too, like spraying shellac, but I'm a simple man, what can I say?
One thing I found interesting is that the sides of the grille were most definitely faux-grained. Here's a photo as I was already sanding it off and it occurred to me that I should take a photo. It was a yellowy base with brown streaks on top of that, very simple. I tried to mimic that and I think I got very close. I just used craft paints and coated it with shellac when I was done.

I know how gratifying it is to restore an Edison having worked hard on my A250. Congratulations, you have a real beauty.
