You are right I need a couple more. I have one that needs a motor but I am putting it off for a while.. I have a few things going on. I will have t add another washer and drier though to add a few more. Tom

I can't say it's definitely not true, but I've never seen any era catalogs or advertising that mentions cone horns. The earliest I've seen show a funnel horn. Note that the machine in this ad is very early, without a gear cover.

Yes, I see that! I also looked to see if the reproducer clips were the single screw type but the artist didn't seem to include that detail. I also notice that the speed control seems to be AWOL.

This makes me wonder if sometimes the drawings in these catalogs might not be somewhat incorrect, much like VW catalogs of the day often showed details that had already been phased out on the model they depicted. (Even the museum makes lots of errors in their restorations but that's a whole other story )

My understanding was that the early Standard or Class S was possibly supplied with a listening tube, but you could pay extra to get the cone horn. The only machines I've ever seen in the wild with a funnel like that were Berliners.

All that said, the day we think we know it all is the day we don't, right? Besides, who knows what the dealers offered when our forefathers bought their talking machines back in the day...

BTW, just out of idle curiosity, I wonder if the 2/4 attachment would fit these earlier Standards.

A 2/4 attachment will work on a square case. I put one on and it works. It barely gets through amberola cylinder I would not recommend. I am thinking of taking mine off. Tomb

I was also wondering about that since it's impossible to play 2 cylinders all the way through on one winding. These are very well built machines made to do the job adequately per 1898 standards (pun intended) but no more.

New reduced price.

I'd also be willing to consider reasonable offers on just the machine with Automatic repro/ recorder and horns (without the records and blanks.
